Her entire life has been an avid sportsperson. Gerina started playing golf at the age of fifteen. Gerina graduated from high school education in Goddard High School. The school won at the New Mexico State Golf Tournament at the age of high school. Also, she was an athlete in volleyball who played at the state level. Her first college was the University of Texas. In her final year, she won every tournament she competed in. In her undergraduate career, she won her the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year award and the UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.
